Why ‘I’ is a unique letter and word

Grammar, Lest We Forget, Parts of Speech

Did you know ‘I’ is both a letter and a word?

You knew.

But did you know some learners have never heard that ‘I’ (speaker) is always in capital letter wherever it appears in a sentence?

Yes, ‘I’ is always capitalized.

1. ‘I’ love swimming.
2. Tolu and ‘I’ are just friends.
3. ‘I’, Buhari Putin Trump, do solemnly swear that ‘I’ will uphold the law at all times.

English is the only language that uses ‘I’ as a capitalised word. According to dictionary.com, the capitalization was due to the word looking bad (not pleasing to the eye) when written as a small letter.
